What has Akomanga 4 Been Up To? Week 4 & 5 Check out all the great things we have been doing over the past few weeks. KIWICAN with Matua Zab & Whaea Louisa. Word Wizards!  This is our new favourite word game in our akomanga.  The tamariki are becoming so amazing at making up words with the letters, they are really blowing me away!! Working in groups to come up with a role play about one of our school values and what it looks like.  They are doing this for PB4L, which they are just so fantastic at! Presenting their roleplay to the class, everyone participated which is just fabulous as the tamariki have made 'participation' one of the expectations in our class treaty this year.  Great job you ROCKSTARS! Akomanga 4 -  Term One 2022 Week 1-3 Kia ora e te Whānau, We have had a busy 3 weeks back at kura.  It was awesome to have almost all of my (your) tamariki return to kura and we have all been amazing at adjusting to our new normal.  The first week we did activities about getting to know our classmates and also sharing things about ourselves.  We completed a puzzle piece about ourselves that is now displayed on our akomanga wall.. We have been learning the kupu in te reo Māori for many of the classroom objects we use and the tamariki have turned it into a fun game that they can play independently at any time. We also have been getting outside for hakinakina everyday.  The tamariki have been showing some excellent ball handling skills and also some amazing teamwork and aroha towards each other.   Swimming We spent a good part of the first term learning to swim and practicing for swimming sports day. We had so much fun racing each other in groups and working together to make our swimming time fun.  Room 4 particularly loved swimming the 'truck'n'trailer' race and they came away from swimming sports with many placings! Many of the students said they couldn't do backstroke but every single one of them gave it a go and were very supported by the rest of the class in doing so.   I am very proud of Akomanga 4's achievements in swimming this year and the improvements I saw in their freestyle and backstroke after practicing hard.  Well done you are all Rockstars for sure! Maths Bingo Maths bingo is becoming a favourite game to play in our class at maths time which always ends in many loud shouts of "BINGO!"  Sometimes we switch cards and play another round.  We have a buddy system in place so that we are all helping each other....

 🙂 We have been cutting out food from magazines and putting them into  'Healthy' & 'Unhealthy' categories.  We are going to glue them onto a paper for our next Kai ora task.
